Overview
The International Youth Federation is an international non-profit youth organizations network governed by the present Statutes and the Swiss Civil Code. It is neutral politically, and non-denominational, aim to empower youth worldwide.

The IYF Press Commission leads and supports the organization in cultivating, building and nurturing strategic relationships and alliances that are essential for advancing and successfully achieving the mission of the IYF. Within the Press Commission, the Press Operations Team leads and manages external communications through strategy, media, digital communications, marketing, branding and global storytelling. The Team is responsible for news, story and photo/video/multimedia production and celebrity management, helping to raise the IYF’s global profile and strengthen our positioning among key donors, partners, policymakers, and public audiences.

The Communications Specialist is part of the Press Operations Team. Reporting to the Chair of Press Commission, he/she is responsible for positioning the IYF’s work in priority areas worldwide through mainstream media, multimedia, and social media platforms. He/she is responsible for drafting and editing communication materials, developing and implementing global campaigns and press launches in coordination with relevant offices. He/she is also responsible for supporting communication initiatives.

Mission Statement:
To voluntarily represent, positively promote, and uphold the mission of “Empowering youth for better world” in various programs and opportunities throughout the IYF interventions across member countries.

Responsibilities:
(A) Contribute to developing and implementing IYF’s media communications strategy including:
• Initiate, draft, edit communications materials, including press kits, fact sheets, infographics and multimedia products.
• Organize press events and position the IYF senior staff in press launches.
• Work across the organization with policy and regional experts to identify media moments, develop and implement relevant materials and media outreach.
• Work with social media team to draft messages for social media platforms.
• Generate innovative ways to gain quality media coverage across all channels.

(B) Support the IYF outreach to international media from regions and Country Teams:
• Collaborate with Regional Administrations and Regional Communication Advisers to identify potential stories for media placement in international media.
• Identify opportunities for report launches and other media moments with relevant regional Administrations.
• Identify opportunities for, pitch and facilitate interviews by Regional and Country Teams leadership and policy and program experts to broadcast, print and online media.
• Provide communication support to Regional Administrations and Country Teams as needed.

(C) Digital Communications Support:
• Press releases and media kits drafted and preparations.
• Maintained and expanded contacts with external partners; topics, background information, news-related developments and coverage of interest to each identified.
• Oversee and maintain the IYF outreach and produces information materials for public outreach.
• Oversees the IYF websites content and improve web presence through a wide number of communications products and online promotional items.
• Create and promote the IYF content through national, regional and global social media accounts in line with corporate social media policy.

Eligibility:
• Highly interest in youth empowerment issues.
• Knowledge sharing skills are required.

Experience:
Experience and results preferred at national level preferred in communication role, development, communications, blogging, youth issues, sport, women empowerment, youth-led organizations or another relevant field.

Language:
Fluency in English with superior drafting skills is essential.

Assessment:
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
